An open-world RP event for first-timers & veterans alike.Takes place every other Sunday (Materia, Sophia, 4 PM EST ) & Wednesday (Crystal, Diabolos, 9 PM EST).
ABOUT
IN-CHARACTER:
After the liberation of Doma and the opening of trade ports across the Ruby Sea, many in Kugane sought to diversify their wares and contract various skilled individuals. With the aid of the East Aldenard Trading Company, the Umineko Teahouse created a biweekly initiative to host adventurers and specialists from all of Eorzea, free of charge. Sellswords, diplomats, gleaners, pirates, and every walk of life in between are welcome to network, set off on their own adventures, or simply seek respite in the splendid sights and sounds of Kugane.
OUT-OF-CHARACTER:
This SFW canon-compliant event is meant to help introduce novice RPers to roleplaying conventions in-game, as well as serve as a means of connecting with fellow roleplayers to befriend OOC and create storylines and dynamics with IC. By attending an Umineko Teahouse night, you can relax knowing you are surrounded by those with similar interests and passions as you dip your toes into roleplay for the first time. Veterans welcome! This event was founded by the "serious sunnie" F'ujoshi Yaohi, but do not let her unfortunate name dissuade you. I am an experienced roleplayer, though I am relatively new to XIV, and take her very seriously. I hope this event makes new and old roleplayers alike feel as welcome as I did in the game's community when I first started with XIV. Feel free to visit her Carrd, or contact me in-game with any questions.
ICON SYSTEM

NEW RPERS
Firstly, thank you for your interest in lore-adherent roleplay! It is because of people like you that I sought to make this event in the first place. Before you dive in, though, there are some general rules of thumb and etiquette guidelines to keep in mind. Feel free to peruse the linked reference sites at your leisure to further acclimate yourself with the wonderful world of FFXIV RP!Roleplay in XIV, especially in open-world settings, is usually written using in the third-person. This makes messages easier to understand, aids in separating in-character (IC) from out-of-character (OOC) replies, and works with the custom emote system. By typing /em and appending things in the third-person, your character will have an emote log linked to them with your response!Reply length tends to be about 200 to 400 characters, the latter being the character limit for the game's chat function. Should your reply exceed this, break up your post by cutting the sentence off with [x]/[number of posts to come]. So, if you are to post three consecutive messages as one reply, you would add 1/3, 2/3, 3/3 to the end of your messages. Do try to be mindful of monologuing, though-- you want your scene partners to contribute! Additionally, avoiding the inverse would be ideal, unless that is a facet of your character. Replying to a one or two paragraph message with a single word or blithe sentence hardly makes for a good scene. Some roleplayers like to use the dice function to determine emotional responses or outcomes in any given situation. Many set a threshold for themselves, or ask OOC what it should be, then input /random or /dice to get a roll. For other rules and information, refer to the general rules section of this Carrd. Visit the links below for more tips and guidance regarding RP etiquette, or feel free to speak with an Event Runner!
RULES
Please note that as this is an open-world event, adequate moderation is nigh impossible. Users are encouraged to blacklist others they are uncomfortable with, though do keep in mind that IC is not OOC. If you have any issues IC, do talk about it OOC first. If these issues continue, an Event Runner will intervene. This event is SFW. Please keep RP topics adherent to the game's T rating. Umineko Teahouse does not have a Syncshell, so sync with other users at your own discretion. The Event Runners will not be held liable for any NSFW mods.
Do not RP as the Warrior of Light. Please see the New RPer section for more.
Do not god-mod, meta-game or powerplay.
Do not bloat the chat with OOC remarks. Please keep OOC chatter to CWLS, parties, or tells.
Do not harass fellow roleplayers. If you do not like them OOC, blacklist them. If you do not like how they roleplay, avoid interacting with them.
Additionally, do not create OOC drama. This is not high school.
Please keep the environment spoiler-free. While this event takes place post-Endwalker, be mindful that Kugane is the hub for many just starting Stormblood. Be kind to any sprouts milling about!
